Australia’s Alliance Airlines will on 10 April launch commercial service with its recently acquired Embraer E190 fleet, out of Adelaide and Darwin.
The regional operator, which previously operated an all-Fokker fleet, received regulatory approval from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority on 31 March and received a revised Air Operators Certificate.

It stated: “This follows an intense six-month programme of aircraft and spare parts acquisition, maintenance, training and regulatory and compliance checks.”
Alliance disclosed in August that it was acquiring 14 E190s from Azorra Aviation and in December signed for another 16 E190s from Jetran, both US-based lessors.

Funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. agreed to lead a US$ 350 million investment in Azorra Aviation Holdings LLC, a Ft. Lauderdale, Florida-based commercial aircraft lessor. Azorra intends to use the proceeds from the investment to accelerate its growth. Since its inception, Azorra has completed transactions on 37 aircraft. The company currently owns and manages 11 aircraft and has purchase and lease commitments on an additional 6 aircraft.
Azorra’s CEO, John Evans, is responsible for long-term strategic planning and day-to-day operations of Azorra. Prior to founding Azorra, John Evans was President and CEO of Jetscape Aviation Group (JAG). .

Australian regional operator Alliance Airlines has inked a wet lease agreement to provide flexible capacity to the QantasLink network with three of its recently acquired Embraer E190s.
The agreement is for an initial three-year period and the aircraft will be based in Adelaide and Darwin, servicing the Adelaide-Alice Springs, Darwin-Alice Springs and Darwin-Adelaide routes, Alliance said today in a disclosure to the Australian Securities Exchange.

Qantas expects this arrangement to commence in June, it said in a same-day statement, when the group’s domestic network returns to pre-Covid-19 levels, but that depends on the recovery of travel demand.

The development includes the construction of a new hangar, a new external aircraft manoeuvring apron and a new at grade external carpark with associated engineering works. The proposed hangar is about 140m x 66m (about 9,423 sqm) with an annex of about 140m x 20.5m (about 2,812 sqm). At the rear of the hangar would be an 80 bay carparking area for staff. Alliance Aviation has signed for 16 Embraer 190 aircraft and one spare GE Aviation CF34 engine from US-based Jetran LLC in a A$85 million ($65 million) deal, marking the completion of its short-term fleet expansion plans.
The operator plans to fund the transaction through a mixture of existing cash facilities, operating cash flows and debt, it said today in a disclosure to the Australian Securities Exchange.
