VIJAYAWADA: Village and ward volunteers have become a vital mechanism in implementing decentralised governance and ensuring that the welfare schemes of the Andhra Pradesh Government reach the doorsteps of the people as envisaged by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The State Government now plans to formulate service rules and provide employment benefits to the staff of village and ward secretariats, who are serving the people through the village and ward secretariat.
Ajay Jain, Chief Secretary, Village and Ward Secretariats, said there was a need to formulate service rules and provide employment benefits to the staff while speaking in a meeting held on Thursday at the Commissionerate of Village and Ward Secretariats at Autonagar in Vijayawada under his chairmanship.

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], February 10 (ANI): Chief MinisterYS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday wrote a letter to 2.6 lakh village and ward volunteers, in response to a few political factions provoking them to protest for a salary hike.
Andhra CM in his letter asked them not to be misled by people who are bent on destroying the volunteer system and continue to offer their services as before. Certain people with vested interests who want to snatch your respect and this noble system from you are provoking you to protest. I, as a brother, humbly request you to stay away from such elements and concentrate on the service you are rendering to the needy, he said.

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Aditya Nath Das has asked the Government employee unions to take part in the election duties. Aditya Nath Das met them on Tuesday at his camp office in Vijayawada. According to the Supreme Court ruling, all employees should participate in the election duties of local bodies, said Adityanath Das.The State Election Commission (SEC) has made it clear that the postponement cannot be carried out as per the schedule announced.
The CS spoke to them about the implementation of the model code of conduct, the duties of the employees and explained to them about the election arrangements. He reassured union leaders that their safety would be given priority.
