Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai, who unveiled his new party on TV News Tuesday night, called it “The Israelis” in line with his pledge to serve all parts of the population. He also vowed to bring an end to the prevailing “despair over a prime minister under three criminal indictments, a million jobless, ruined businesses, agitation and hatred.” There is another way, said the mayor, and there is an alternative. After turning Tel Aviv into a pleasant city to live in, Huldai said he would do the same for the country, with a list of able, professional people. As an example, he introduced Avi Nisenkorn, whom Benny Gantz had just sacked as justice minister for suddenly defecting to Huldai’s new party.
