Arkansas volunteer firefighters hope to keep Fourth of July holiday peaceful
The Fourth of July is a day where many Arkansas families celebrate Independence Day.
Austin Porter, Jr. is the president of the Progressive League of College Station. He said hopes for a peaceful holiday weekend. According to Porter, it was chaotic the night on the Fourth of July in College Station in 2019.
“It was devastating, people were injured, people had to be taken to the hospital. it’s my understanding that one or two individuals lost fingers,” Porter said.
According to the Pulaski County Sheriff s Office, there was a “fireworks war” two years ago. Officials said five people were injured and a dozen people were arrested. They said a large group of people started shooting fireworks at each other and deputies. There were several reports of those who were injured and lost their fingers from firework explosions.
