PITTSBURGH, Jan. 22, 2021 /PRNewswire/ The Advanced Leadership Initiative (TALI) and Carnegie Mellon University are pleased to announce the launch of the 2021 cohort of the Executive Leadership Academy, which is beginning its third year. The Executive Leadership Academy (ELA) is TALI s signature program and part of an ongoing effort to build a pipeline of African American leaders who are prepared to contribute to their organizations and communities at the highest level.
This year s 28 cohort members were selected based on applications from some of Pittsburgh s experienced and highly accomplished African American leaders. 2020/21 Reporting Season: how much harder could it be for retailers? 13 January 2021: With a difficult year behind them, the upcoming reporting season is likely to cause further issues for both retailers and their auditors. We speak to Jacqui Baker, boutique owner and Audit Director at RSM UK Audit, about year ends, going concern and wellbeing. “In the background, I have always had a massive interest in retail, and particularly fashion,” says Baker. “A few years ago, an opportunity to participate in the opening of my own boutique arose. I grabbed it with both hands.”
The boutique opened 18 months ago. “It has been a very different 18 months than we had anticipated,” says Baker, wearing her retailer’s hat. “Sales were phenomenal until the first lockdown. But when we were forced to close, we had to harness our digital platforms and our social media came into its own as a sales channel.”

Almost four in ten consumers (38%) plan to spend less this Christmas than last year in the context of COVID-19 pandemic, according to Deloitte 2020 Holiday Retail Survey. The study underlines that anxieties related to financial concerns are reshaping consumer’s approach to the shopping season, as respondents’ main reasons for the increased caution are related to the economic instability (50%) and their plans to save more (40%).
The study surveyed more than 4,000 US consumers and provides key insights into how COVID-19 is influencing the holiday season.

Travel and experiences are the items on which consumers will mostly cut back this holiday season, with 34% of them investing less than last year in socializing away from home.
