The pandemic is raining on at least one Saint Patrick’s Day parade in the Garden State this year.
Belmar officials canceled the town’s 48th annual Saint Patrick’s Day parade due to the coronavirus. The procession, which falls on the first Sunday in March, usually draws about 60,000 onlookers to Belmar’s streets, Mayor Mark Walsifer said.
It was held last year on March 1, slightly more than a week before the WHO declared a pandemic, and before New Jersey’s shutdown of non-essential businesses.
