Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya
(pic) said the total accidents almost tripled compared to 50 to 70 cases daily when the government ordered employees to work from home.
He said about 60% to 70% of the accidents involved four-wheel drive vehicles while the rest were motorcycles. Similarly, on weekends, we received an average of 70 to 80 accident cases daily. We believe the matter occurred due to additional traffic with people starting to drive to work as well as the factor of the economy picking up, ” he told reporters after a JSPTKL Bubur Lambuk distribution programme with Pakatan Pemandu at Jalan Duta toll plaza here Wednesday (April 28).

KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic conditions in Kuala Lumpur have eased on Saturday (March 13) after heavy congestion was reported on Friday (March 12).
Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and enforcement department chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya said he was aware of heavy congestion especially at the Sungai Besi toll plaza on Friday. We discovered that 80% of cars (compared to pre-MCO days) are on the road and it might have contributed to the congestion. However, 90% of the motorists are from the Klang Valley and 10% were from other states. Those checked had proper travel permits, he said.
He added that three roadblocks have been removed to ease traffic flow.
