India Business News: The government is reconsidering the plan to monetize stadiums and is focusing on offering the iconic Ashok Hotel under the PPP mode. The plan to monetize stadia has been put on hold to prioritize training facilities for sportspersons.
The move to not borrow from the market comes in the backdrop of the central government increasing its Budgetary allocation to Indian Railways to Rs 2.52 lakh crore, which is 5 percent higher when compared to 2023-24.
The government has budgeted Rs 30,000 crore from other capital receipts in the Revised Estimates for the current fiscal. For 2024-25, the amount is budgeted at Rs 50,000 crore. DIPAM Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey said the Budget does not have any specific target for disinvestment for the next fiscal and the Rs 50,000 crore receipts is estimated to come from disinvestment and asset monetisation, as well as capital receipts, which are not classified elsewhere.
