A panel found Kavinder Madhra’s fitness to practise was impaired following allegations raised by the UK’s medical watchdog. It came as the Morecambe Bay hospital trust confirmed that another under-fire urology consultant had left the organisation. The General Medical Council alleged that following an assessment of Mr Madhra’s professional performance in May and June 2018, his professional performance was found to be unacceptable in the areas of assessment and clinical management and a cause for concern in the area of working with colleagues.

Ashutosh Jain was criticised for errors that played a role in the deaths of patients being treated by the trust which runs Furness General and Westmorland General hospitals. He is among three urologists who have come under fire due to failures in patient care, with an external inquiry looking into concerns that date back to 2001. Coroners ruled clinical errors made by Mr Jain and former colleagues Kavinder Madhra, and Muhammad Naseem contributed to the deaths of two patients.
