Gators lose grip at SEC Championship Florida fell short to Kentucky last second Florida finished runner-up for the third year in a row at the SEC Swim and Dive Championships, an accomplishment met with joy and head turns from Gator nation. The Gators women’s swimming and diving team headed to Athens, Georgia and Columbia, Missouri, to compete in the 2021 SEC Championship, where they tripped up for the third consecutive season. History repeated itself as the team ranked second for the third year in a row at 1,071 points, standing behind the Kentucky Wildcats in a close game. The Gators lost to Tennessee last year and Texas A&M the year prior.

Florida wins dual battle against Auburn - The Independent Florida Alligator

Florida wins dual battle against Auburn The Gators swept Auburn for a second time this season The Gator swimming and diving teams sunk the No. 23 Tigers in a dual meet at Auburn.  The No.8 women and No.5 men won 215-84 and 158-142, respectively.  The meet started on a high note for the women. Florida’s A team, made up of freshmen Lain Shahboz and Cecilia Porter and sophomores Talia Bates and Katelyn Mack, pulled first place in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:38.80. The B team ranked third at 1:39.47. But the success didn’t end there.  The Gators placed first in 15 of 16 events and were practically competing against themselves during the meet.

After UNF win, Gators bid seniors farewell Florida celebrated the achievements of 11 seniors before its final home meet January 22, 2021 | 4:05pm EST Each Gator was greeted with their coaches’ handshakes, a bouquet of flowers, a plaque and a round of applause. Photo by Faith Buckley | The Independent Florida Alligator The orange-and-blue lane dividers, “Go, Gators!” chant and alligator floaty filled the pool with a sense of nostalgia.  Eleven graduating Gators were called up to the pool walkway Wednesday. Taylor Ault, Bettina Boszormenyi, Adrianna DeBoer, Gabby Hillis, Ashley McCool, Nikki Miller, Liz Watts and Emma Whitner were celebrated before the meet began.
