New Delhi: After the third and final phase of Kerala local body polls on Monday, the counting of votes will be held on December 16, according to the State Election Commission (SEC). The final phase of polling witnessed 78.64 per cent voter turnout in the four districts.
A total of 70,27,534 people, including 32,87,029 men, 37,40,486 women and 19 transgender people cast their votes in the four districts. Kozhikode district recorded the highest turnout with 79 per cent, followed by Malappuram (78.87) and Kannur (78.57), while Kasaragod witnessed the lowest voter turnout with 77.17 per cent.

Thiruvananthapuram: The third and the final phase of the local body polls concluded in Kerala on Monday in the four northernmost districts, with 78.62 per cent turnout being recorded, according to the State Election Commission. As per the latest details issued by the SEC, the Kozhikode district recorded the highest turnout with 78.98 percent, followed by Malappuram (78.86) and Kannur 77.54) Kasaragod recorded the lowest voter turnout with 77.14 per cent.
Vijayan later expressed confidence about the impressive victory of the ruling Left Democratic Front in the crucial local body polls, which is considered a curtain raiser for the Assembly elections due next year. The Left front is going to achieve an iconic victory in the polls. Those, who have voted so far, have given us great support, Vijayan told reporters in Kannur.
A total of 25.09 per cent voting was registered in the four district at 10 AM, according to official update.
A total of 89,74,993 voters including 46,87,310 women and 86 transgenders were in the electoral roll in these districts to elect representatives in 6,867 wards in 354 local bodies including two Corporations and 31 municipalities.
