Former state senator Rick Gunn is settling an alienation of affection suit from a legislative aide’s husband, according to the Associated Press.
Arthur Johns sued Gunn in August claiming the then District 24 senator carried on a years-long affair with his now estranged wife, Karen Johns, and used his office to damage Arthur Johns’ reputation and discredit him.
Johns’ lawyer, Richard Gantt, said the suit would be formally dismissed once Johns received a financial settlement, according to the Associated Press. Gunn’s lawyer, Nathaniel Smith, confirmed there was a settlement and pending dismissal to the News & Observer, but did not say whether or not Gunn had agreed to pay Johns.
