Google Doodle to mark 151st anniversary of The Metropolitan Museum of Art s founding
The images are all drawn from The Mets Open Access program, which includes some 400,000 photographs of objects in the Museums collection available for use without restriction.
NEW YORK, NY
.- The 151st anniversary of the founding of The Metropolitan Museum of Art will be celebrated with a custom Google Doodle, the creative treatment of the Google logo featured on the search engines homepage. The Met-inspired animated Doodle will launch in the United States at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13, and be viewable for 24 hours. The Doodle will appear in more than 20 countries.
New publication investigates digital developments on the African continent
Digital Imaginaries. African Positions Beyond the Binary.

.-ZKM launched a new publication called Digital Imaginaries. Digital Imaginaries. African Positions Beyond the Binary was published in German and English by Kerber Verlag Bielefeld/Berlin on March 23, 2021.
The book presents the results of the three-year cooperative project Digital Imaginaries (2018-2021). The project partners were Kër Thiossane and Afropixel Festival in Dakar/Senegal, Wits Art Museum and Fak ugesi Festival of African Digital Innovation in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the ZKM | Karlsruhe. Digital Imaginaries investigated digital developments on the African continent by focusing on exhibitions, festivals and performances, seminars, lectures and artist residencies. Lost treasure from Horace Walpole s Strawberry Hill Collection discovered in Suffolk and set for auction
The soon-to-be-auctioned work is one of only three known examples of the model, with the other two currently held by The Louvre and the Fitzwilliam Museum.

.- A sculpture of an ostrich from the workshop of celebrated Renaissance sculptor, Giambologna, will go under the hammer at Cheffins Fine Sale in Cambridge on 21st April. Having been held in a private collection for over 180 years, and originally purchased from the Horace Walpole collection at Strawberry Hill House, the sculpture is set to sell for between £80,000 -£120,000.

.-Danziger Gallery opened an exhibition that had been delayed due to the pandemic. This timely show is Risaku Suzukis Sakura or Cherry Blossom series. The show opened at Danziger at Fetterman in Los Angeles on April 8.
One of Japans most eminent photographers, Risaku Suzuki has been working for over 30 years capturing the natural world in both an individual and a quintessentially Japanese style. While he has created series on mountains, seas, snow, and Monets gardens, he has returned to the subject of cherry blossoms for over 20 years, in a manner that is at once timeless and contemporary.
