Shereen Wu, the Taiwanese American model at the center of a recent AI “whitewashing” scandal, has revealed details of her personal experience surrounding the controversy — and what she hopes to hear from fashion designer Michael Costello. On Oct. 24, Costello "re-shared" a digitally altered image of Wu’s look on his Instagram Stories, which the model discovered the next day through her mother. “Michael Costello posted the edited photo on Oct. 24, but my mom didn’t see it until 12 hours later, on Oct. 25 at 9:47 p.m.,” Wu recalls to NextShark.
