The world has gone mad - Oisin McConville on Dublin breaking GAA training ban April 04, 2021 Oisin McConville. ©INPHO/Tommy Dickson. Oisin McConville says the world has gone mad with overreaction to the group of Dublin senior footballers who broke the GAA training ban. Dublin players were photographed conducting a training session in Balgriffin last Wednesday morning in what was also a breach of Government Covid-19 guidelines. Dublin s management committee subsequently hit manager Dessie Farrell with a 12-week suspension as the GAA expressed frustration and extreme disappointment at the revelations. However, Armagh All-Ireland winner McConville wasn t surprised Dublin were training and feels the incident is being blown out of proportion by the media.

Northern Ireland keeper Trevor Carson reveals gambling hell left him at 'rock bottom'

Northern Ireland goalkeeper Trevor Carson has revealed how a gambling addiction left him at “rock bottom”. The 33-year-old, who currently plays for Scottish Premiership side Motherwell, said he has not placed a bet in more than six years after seeking professional help. He recalled how his lowest moment came when he spent his last £200 which he had kept to buy his young daughter a birthday meal and present at the bookies. Carson, capped five times by Northern Ireland, was speaking in an interview with football journalist Michael Clarke. He described how his father would place novelty 50p bets for him at the age of 11 but what started as fun developed into a serious addiction that almost ruined his life.

McEntee: Six weeks' preparation time would be ideal

McEntee: Six weeks preparation time would be ideal February 07, 2021 Tony McEntee during his time as Mayo selector. Sligo manager Tony McEntee has said he would ideally need six weeks to prepare his team for the start of the Allianz Football League. The GAA has decided to further delay the return of inter-county teams to collective training following a meeting of its Covid-19 Advisory Group last Monday evening. A letter sent to counties and signed by GAA Director General Tom Ryan stated that it would be irresponsible for the GAA to permit a return to collective training at this moment in time and the group is set to reconvene on February 15th to further consider the matter.
