Ariel Quartet: Beethoven Cycle, Part 3

Characterized by its youth, brilliant playing, and soulful interpretations, the Ariel Quartet has quickly earned a glowing international reputation. Formed in Israel as teenagers at the Jerusalem Academy Middle School of Music and Dance and celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2020–21, the Quartet was named recipient of the prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award, granted by Chamber Music America in recognition of artistic achievement and career support. They return to ArtPower for two concerts this season, as they perform the complete Beethoven Cycle, in honor of the composer’s 250th birthday in 2020. This concert marks the third of a five-concert series. Program: Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartet in A Major, op. 18, no. 5; String Quartet in E minor, op. 59, no. 2; String Quartet in B-flat Major, op 130, no. 2

CLEVELAND, Ohio The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards will, like all of its ilk, look at little different this year.
The ceremony hosted by Trevor Noah at 8 p.m. Sunday, March 14, on CBS and Paramount+ will go without a red carpet or live audience, with the show paying tribute to music venues impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dido and Aeneas. A screening of the 1995 film directed by Barbara Willis Sweete who recreated the
Dido and Aeneas set on a sound stage in Toronto and filmed it without the constraints of a proscenium stage and with Morris in his critically acclaimed role. The screening will be followed by a live Q&A with Morris and Sweete and launches a week of activities including talks with dancers and artistic collaborators. Dance with MMDG classes for all levels to learn excerpts of the work; Dance for PD classes appropriate for anyone with mobility concerns. View here and on demand for one week.

COLLEGE STATION, TX â While it may be difficult to catch a live performance in-person right now, one Brazos County nonprofit wants to bring classical music right to local living rooms this Valentineâs weekend - with a little bit of a twist.
The Friends of Chamber Music BCS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting Brazos County residents to diverse and cultured live music. Currently, the organization is enjoying its 25th season of musical events.

Arts lovers from around the world are invited to tune in to the next episode of CCMONSTAGE Online at 7:30 p.m. EST on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021. The premiere will stream simultaneously on CCM’s website, YouTube channel and Facebook page.
Titled Joining Hands, this 30-minute-long virtual concert features CCM string quartet-in-residence the Ariel Quartet collaborating with master’s degree students Cristian Diaz and Denielle Wilson, who are also both second-year participants in CCM’s innovative Diversity Fellowship initiative with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
To open the concert, Wilson and Diaz – a cellist and a violist respectively – join the Ariel Quartet on the stage of CCM’s Robert J. Werner Recital Hall for a performance of the first movement of Johannes Brahms’ String Sextet in B-flat Major.
