Tawas Elks offering college scholarships; due April 30
The Tawas Area Elks Lodge #2525 announces that applications are now available for their 2021 Community College Scholarship.
This scholarship is open to any high school senior from the following high schools: Alpena, Arenac Eastern, AuGres Sims, Hale, Lincoln-Alcona, Oscoda, Standish-Sterling, Tawas Area, Whittemore-Prescott, and the Alternative Education Academy of Iosco County.
The student must be attending one of the following community colleges during the 2021-22 academic school year: Alpena Community College, Delta Community College, or Kirtland Community College.
Scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded to the top two applicants, but additional scholarships may be awarded at the time of judging.

East Grand Rapids is the Michigan school district with highest percentage of college graduates, according to new Census data.
That’s based on percentage of adult residents with a four-year college degree, using the Census Bureau’s five-year average for 2015-19.
An estimated 79% of adults age 25 and over who live in the East Grand Rapids school district have a bachelor’s degree, compared to a state average of 30%.
