The Rhode Island Food Policy Council has selected 11 new members to join the organization for two-year terms.
The new members bring a wide range of backgrounds, geographic locations, and food system expertise and interests.
“I am thrilled with our newest group of council members,” says Thea Upham, who led the recruitment and selection work as chair of the Council’s governance committee. “This year’s recruitment process was incredibly challenging because we had so many qualified applicants. COVID-19 really exposed the importance of our local food system by highlighting its weaknesses and gaps as well as new opportunities for collaboration. Each of these new members demonstrated their enthusiasm for working in service to their communities and their commitment to working across sectors to advance the RIFPC mission.”
