PREMONT, Texas â Earlier this month, the Premont community voted in favor of a $4.1 million bond proposal that the school district will use to renovate its high school.
âItâs in dire straits, enrollment is growing, itâs a good investment,â said Premont ISD superintendent Steve VanMatre. âItâs a 50-year-old facility that hasnât had a lot of love and attention, and weâre going to give it that.â

PREMONT, Texas â About a month ago, the special education department at Premont High School started the Cowboy Cakery. What started as regular class curriculum turned into more.
âThe kids loved the cupcake aspect. They loved baking, and I realized that could be something I could grow with, and improve on their employability skills when they get out of high school,â said Deidra Jaramillo-Pulido, the special education teacher.
