Malaysia s Anugerah Lagu Indie awards open for 2021 song nominations

Malaysia’s Anugerah Lagu Indie (ALI) awards is now open for 2021 song nominations. The inaugural ALI awards took place in October 2020, with an aim of providing a platform to recognise independent songwriters, lyricists, musicians and singers in the Malaysian music industry. The second instalment will be held this October. The second stage of song nominations is open from now until March 31. All Malaysian indie songwriters, lyricists, musicians and singers with songs produced from August 14, 2020 to August 13, 2021 are eligible. The songs must be free from publishing bond with any recording companies. Advertisement “ALI2021 will be bigger and better than last year,” said Loy Ekzan of youth media brand Rakita, which co-organises ALI. “So come join us and nominate your favourite songs.”

Elsewhere during the ceremony, psychedelic rock group Ramayan snagged the Best Song award for their track, ‘Lamunan Anak Bulan’, while rappers Gard Wuzgut took home The Jeremy Award, named in honour of the late music producer Jeremy Little, earning the title of ‘breakthrough artists’.
