A man who was found guilty of attempting to rape an elderly woman in her Mayo home received a life sentence Tuesday afternoon following a tense hearing where he continued to deny his involvement in the assault.
Paul Daniel Harell, 50, was convicted on home invasion, attempted first- and second-degree rape, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and dangerous weapons counts for the Aug. 13, 2021 incident.
The prosecution started calling witnesses in a jury trial for a man who police said last year broke into a 74-year-old Mayo woman’s home as she slept and attacked her with a knife before attempting to rape her.
