The general society was founded in 1785 by 22 artisans. Today our 234yearold organization continues to serve the people of the city of new york. We do this through our cultural and educational programs. They include our lecture series which of course is the lecture to the party. The general Society Library which will be celebrating 200 years next year. Our tuition free Mechanics Institute and the john m. Start by contextualizing for you Holocaust Denial. Ill talk to you about what happened during my trial but first i want to talk who are holocaust deniers, why do they say what they say and how can we understand, whats doing, or what their arguments are, their socalled arguments are . But i think we have to begin first by defining the holocaust. Im getting sort of a basic definition. There are many variations. How would you define the holocaust . Dont all freeze up on me. How would you define the holocaust . We went over this briefly in class that we went back to the root of the word holocaust, total and caust to be consumed by fire. My mother a rambunctious irish doctor, athlete, humanist decided to get on the plane and run with the man she loved who was my father and they moved in 1979. The term under which he came here was that i would be raised a good Irish Catholic and can we would go back for all of our holidays a week i could be with my dad. I would not have known she would not have known that we were immigrating to this country but thats what turned out to be. Host wasnt all that simple though was the .
