About 350 striking workers from the South Shore and Annapolis Valley regional centres for education held a rally outside the Nova Scotia legislature Thursday.
"If these workers are so necessary that management says these students cannot attend school safely without their support, then why can’t Education Minister Becky Druhan simply pay them the same wage they’re being paid elsewhere in Nova Scotia?” Sandra Mullen, NSGEU President NSGEU Early Childhood Education, Education and Training Component Bargaining Sandra Mullen, AVRCE, NUPGE, NSGEU strike, wage parity
Supporters can send a letter to Tim Houston, Nova Scotia Premier, Becky Druhan, Minister of Education, opposition parties and their MLA to tell them to end the strike and get back to the table to negotiate a fair deal.
Students with disabilities or health conditions in the Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education have been told not come to school for the duration of the school support worker strike. Parents say this is discriminatory and is setting their children back.
