Nicola was just 36 when she died
A devoted mum-of-three left 11 notes, including several targeted at individuals who she believed betrayed her, before taking her life, an inquest has heard. Nicola Ann Byrne, from Oldham, was found dead at her home on Saturday, July 18 last year.
Rochdale Coroners Court heard how the 36-year-old had kept her guard up and told her family she was fine for months beforehand.
The inquest was told Nicola received abuse about the nature of a new relationship she had begun in October 2019.
Philip Smyth left a major portion of his €23m estate to be distributed among a group of employees and associates who helped to make his enterprises such a major success.
In an extraordinary clause in his will, the late founder of the West Wood Gyms, Sachs Hotel and other business ventures, specified 35pc of his company Leisure Management Corp Ltd was to be given to a consortium of employees, service providers, contractors, or sub-contractors who worked directly or indirectly for him for more than 10 years.
The publicity-shy entrepreneur also made it clear in the will, dated November 2018, a year before his death, that for the avoidance of doubt his executors and trustees had absolute discretion in deciding who will benefit, and by how much.
Long serving Clogherhead garda sergeant Ann Byrne has been praised for her outstanding service to the job and the community.
Ann retired recently and local councillor Tom Cunningham was quick to recognise the immense role she had played in the area. She will be a great loss as she worked very closely with all the groups in the area, he said.
Speaking at the Joint Policing meeting, Supt Andrew Watters echoed his words. She has been synonymous with policing in Clogherhead for years. Ann has given fantastic service and will be a huge loss, he said.
He confirmed that Sgt Ray Brady had taken over in the area for the moment.
