Her apartment was one of about 20 apartments whose residents were displaced late Sunday night because of fires that are considered suspicious, said Trooper A.J. Hicks, spokesman for the state police in Troop K.
“Thankfully no one was injured, Capt. John Ryan, acting Troop K commander, said in a statement. What would motivate someone to do this is unclear at this time, but we will be working tirelessly to find out who did this and why. The community can expect to see a higher police presence in the area.”
State police said seven rear back porches, which had paper products stored there for recycling, were set on fire at the Nos. 200, 400 and 800 buildings. Each building includes 24 apartments.
