New Tata Safari review: It’s so much better that it’s not the same
If you’re a Tata Safari die-hard, you’re going to be conflicted by this genuinely nice new-gen SUV. Aww.

Just how many of your sweet memories of yesteryear are based on pure, irrational nostalgia? Rola-Cola? Sickly-sweet, weird, barely cola-like, but recent Instagram gold. Coolie No. 1 then: Whee! Coolie No. 1 now: WTF? Then: Zeher hai ke pyaar hai tera chumma? Now: Do you like eating mangoes?
So, here’s my unpopular opinion: I don’t see the draw of the old Tata Safari. And I have fond memories of my family Tata Sierra, so if anything, I might be biased. The Safari holds the distinction of being one of India’s early “true” SUVs with 4x4, a reasonable cabin for reasonable people and other such luxuries. But the last time I drove one (the Storme), my elbows sat at different levels, I was more sailing than driving and spent most of my time wondering that perhaps Tata Motors

We ve known that a turbo-petrol engine has been coming to the Altroz for a while now, and though its 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged engine isn t new to us - we ve experienced it (albeit in its full power/torque configuration) in the Nexon before - in the lighter Altroz and paired to a 5-speed gearbox instead of a 6-speed, it promises to be more fun than the regular 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated Altroz, or even the torquey diesel Altroz. But does it live up to the iTurbo badge on its boot?

I find myself faced with a difficult choice: get behind the wheel of Ferrari s most powerful V8-engined car, the last in a line of non-electrified cars to wear the
cavellino rampante badge, for a distance that d be tough to break a sweat in if I were on foot. Or, don t.
Of course, the choice was clear. And the good news is that even the shortest of drives in the F8 Tributo sears itself in your brain. It s hailed as a sharper, more agile regular Ferrari, and with a few of its predecessors lined up for reference, there really is no better way to experience Ferrari s most powerful V8.

The newest Audi in the country, the Q2, finds itself in a bit of a sticky situation. It s the most accessible Audi in the country but for its size and what it offers, can t really be called affordable. Audi says they ve brought it in as a CBU to gauge demand, and base a decision on whether to locally assemble it here later on how it does - but it s smaller than the erstwhile Q3, and more expensive than the Q3 s last recorded price. Heck, in its top Technology trim, it s creeping up on SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz GLC, a whole segment above!
