th double-double of the season, but Seattle was frosty from the field on Friday night and dropped an 86-77 decision to the Phoenix Mercury inside Phoenix Suns Arena.
It was just the second loss in 10 road games this season for the Storm (15-5).
Seattle hit just 29 of 76 from the floor (38.2 percent). Phoenix shot at a 47.1 clip (33 of 70).
However, the Storm did head back to Seattle for Sunday’s rematch against the Mercury with some positive news. They will be the Western Conference team in the Commissioner’s Cup final right back in Phoenix on Thursday, Aug. 12 following the Olympic break. That became firm about an hour after Friday’s final buzzer when Las Vegas fell at home to the Minnesota Lynx, 77-67.

Jewell Loyd who brought it home for the Seattle Storm.
The two Olympians and WNBA All-Stars each scored six of Seattle’s last 12 points – with the final four of those from Loyd inside 40 seconds to play – and the reserves put a season-high 39 onto the board as the Storm hung on to beat the Atlanta Dream inside Angel Of The Winds Arena on Friday night, 91-88.
The result, in front of a season-high 3,011 fans on the first night that all seats were open, got Seattle (13-4) back on track after it had lost two straight for the first time this season.
