One in three young Australians are relying on mum and dad to get into the housing market

One in three young Australians are relying on the bank of mum and dad to get into the housing market as prices surge. Saving up for a 20 per cent mortgage deposit is a logistical challenge with Sydney s median house prices in March surging by 4.3 per cent to a record $1.112million. National property prices last month climbed by 2.8 per cent, the fastest monthly pace since October 1988, to $614,768, CoreLogic data showed. Even the mid-point price for a house or apartment in Australia is a stretch for someone earning an average, full-time salary of $89,000. Little wonder younger Australians are turning to their parents with 32 per cent of first-home buyers relying on the bank of mum and dad to either fund a mortgage deposit, service a loan or cover the full purchase price, a Finder survey of 1,028 property newcomers found.

Charles L. "Charlie" Stetler

Charles L. “Charlie” Stetler, 76, passed away on Feb. 13, 2021, in Clearwater, Fla. Born in Philadelphia on April 14, 1944, he was a longtime resident of Pennsylvania, living in Bedford, Liverpool and Effort, before moving to Clearwater, Fla., in retirement. From a young age, Charlie had a passion for multiple things in life: Baseball, chocolate, and most importantly, people. He attended Marple Newton High School (‘62) and proceeded on to Gettysburg College for an undergraduate degree in Latin and a Master of Divinity. After graduating, Charlie put his passion for listening to people and helping them get through life to good use as a pastor (starting at Trinity Lutheran Church), as a social worker, as a friend, and as a parent. He always loved a good laugh and never failed to be enthralled with watching trains go by, whether real locomotives or his impressive model train layouts. Charlie very much believed in the good of people, and the last few years were hard on hi
