galveston area. kriv reporter andrea watkins is in galveston so tell us how this news is being treated in texas. well, galveston s mayor says that it is troublesome, absolutely. there is no reason to panic. he says this is a very small amount of tar balls right now and they are staying on top of the cleanup. but they do confirm by testing these tar balls that they did come from the deep water horizon spill. now, how it got here, whether it was pushed by the recent storm that we had in the gulf or if it came in on the hull of a ship, they just don t know, the coast guard who is in command here says they recognize the residents actually don t care where it came from, the fact that it s here is still a bother. but they are responding. they want people to know they set up a command post here in galveston. they have also set up a hotline, if you will for people to report tar balls.
