DETROIT – The state of Michigan has suspended the liquor licenses of 37 businesses for violating various COVID-19 safety rules. Here’s a list of all the businesses, along with suspension details.

Date of suspension: Aug. 26, 2020
The Commission ordered an emergency suspension of the Class C License. Before a Sept. 4 hearing, the licensee entered into a negotiated settlement, which resulted in $750 in fines and an additional 14-day suspension, which ended Sept. 17, 2020.
Many businesses throughout Michigan have had their liquor licenses suspended for violated COVID-19 rules.
The last year has been a struggle for almost all businesses throughout the state and several of them have had suspensions of their licenses. Many of these suspensions were also accompanied by fines as well.

Multiple Michigan agencies are punishing businesses disobeying COVID-19 safety measures, and a few businesses have been fined by multiple places.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Michigan Liquor Control Commission and Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration have issued dozens of citations in recent weeks.
First, it was gyms. Now, it’s bars, restaurants, and even a donut shop. For Lansing attorney Dave Kallman, representing the small businesses that have had their liquor licenses suspended, been cited by the health department, or in the donut shop owner’s case, been criminally charged for allegedly violating the state’s COVID-19 orders, has become a bit of a cottage industry.
Since September, 26 businesses have had their liquor licenses suspended by the Michigan Liquor License Control Commission, at least as of December 21.

“They re really attacking these people big time, and going right for their ability to operate and be a business,” Kallman said by phone last week.
