The  “Pictish Chronicle”  is a very old, early medieval manuscript that is dated to the reign of Cináed mac Maíl Coluim, better known as  Kenneth II , the king of Scotland from 971 to 995 AD. By this time in history, it can be safely assumed that the Pictish identity in the region of Scotland was hazy at best, and mostly phased out, assuming somewhat of a mythical role.
