The Thane police on Wednesday told the Bombay High Court that it will continue with only one of the 11 FIRs lodged against NCP leader Anand Paranjpe and a closure report will be filed in the others.
Paranjape while questioning the Thane police duty said, Are you a servant of the people or few politicians? Have they forgotten the oath they took while joining the service as IPS? Paranjpe has also asked the police commissioner Jaijit Singh that the police are there to protect the law.
His comments come a day after the Bombay High Court pulled up Maharashtra police for registering 11 FIRs in connection with one protest against the CM, with a division bench noting that police will learn a lesson only when costs are imposed on them, which they would have to pay from their own salaries.
