Owen Sound is hoping the third time’s a charm in its quest to find a developer to buy and redevelop its historic former courthouse and jail properties.
City hall is accepting proposals until June 11 at 1 p.m. for an “adaptive re-use” of the sites at 1235 and 1259 3rd Avenue East.

Owen Sound has received considerable public feedback about the need to include in its updated official plan greater policy direction related to climate change adaptation and mitigation.
“If there was a single theme then climate change probably is the most frequent comment,” Amy Cann, manager of planning and heritage, said in an interview.

Most of the dozens of letters received by city hall as part of the public consultation process mention climate change, with many urging the city to include a climate action plan in the document and ensure a “climate lens” is applied to all city planning documents and decisions.
