Yesterday, the American Traditions Vocal Competition celebrated the vocal talent of Savannah s youth with its second annual Junior ATC.
Seven student finalists competed for $1,500 in prizes during the Junior ATC Final Round on the afternoon of May 2 at the Hancock Day School Field at Benedictine Military School.
After performing in front of a socially distanced and live audience, the panel of judges comprised of Dr. Amy Williams, Tegan Miller, and Roger Moss selected the following student vocalists announced as winners:

From April 30 – June 21, 2021, Signature Theatre will virtually present “Midnight at the Never Get” with book, lyrics, and music by Mark Sonnenblick and conceived by Sam Bolen, Max Friedman, and Mark Sonnenblick. The show is directed by Matthew Gardiner. It stars Sam Bolen, Christian Douglas and Bobby Smith.
The playas first presented in April 2015 with the name “Midnight at the Rialto.” It then was produced by Don’t Tell Mama and had its limited run extended. In 2016, the production received rave reviews at the New York Musical Festival, with sold out performances.
Live music has become a treasured experience since last year. It’s become a case of you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.
When the pandemic forced Savannah to cancel St. Patrick’s Day last year, none of us could have predicted how many other events would follow suit.
One year later, we’re all eagerly looking forward to some sort of return to normalcy. While we may not have the parade again this year, the American Traditions Vocal Competition brings some of the music we look forward to every St. Patrick’s Day.
Dublin singer Chloë Agnew, who earned acclaim as one of the original members of the music group “Celtic Woman,” will be performing at the Savannah Country Club on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Star Tap by Emily Furr. Furr paints celestial visions that place cool, hard-edged objects within weightless, star-filled voids. Furr’s artwork plays with a codex of motifs, exploring their potential formations through a process of repetition. The artist’s serialized tropes take the shape of tongues laden with hallucinogenic sugar cubes, sloping conveyor belts adorned with astral points, rocket engines with acutely sharp, almost erotic edges, tubes, chains, and myriad metal hardware. Furr’s paintings can be positioned in relation to postmodern artists such as Lee Lozano (American, 1930–99) and Forrest Bess (American, 1911–77), whose depictions of archetypal shapes, colors, and quotidian objects…
