DETROIT The Detroit Red Wings today signed defenseman Donovan Sebrango to a three-year entry-level contract beginning with the 2021-22 season.
Sebrango, 19, is currently playing with the American Hockey League s Grand Rapids Griffins, making his AHL debut on Feb. 11 at Chicago and picking up his first point with an assist on March 3 at Rockford. In his first stint of professional hockey, Sebrango has recorded one assist, a plus-one rating a team-high 14 penalty minutes and eight shots on goal in nine games as the fourth-youngest defenseman currently in the AHL. DETROIT The Detroit Red Wings today reassigned forward Taro Hirose, defenseman Dylan McIlrath and goaltender Kaden Fulcher from the team s taxi squad to the American Hockey League s Grand Rapids Griffins.
Hirose, 24, skated in six games with the Red Wings this season, recording two assists, two penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating in 14:22 average time on ice. Originally signed by the Red Wings as a free agent on March 12, 2019, Hirose has appeared in 42 NHL games since turning professional, tallying 16 points (3-13-16) and eight penalty minutes. Defenseman Trevor Hamilton has agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye for the 2020-21 season.
Hamilton, 25, returns stateside and to Toledo, after spending last season in Europe where he played 45 games in the EBEL with the Graz 99ers in Graz, Austria scoring four goals and 16 assists for 20 points.
“Trevor is an exciting addition to our roster, said Head Coach Dan Watson. He was a very big piece of our success during the Kelly Cup run in 2019.
