(WMTV) - A Dane County couple is trying to warn vaccinated people to not let their guard down just yet, after testing positive for COVID-19 months after being fully vaccinated. “It’s far from over, as we learned the hard way,” said Melissa Bizeau. Melissa and her husband Eric waited a year to go on their honeymoon, until both of them were fully vaccinated and restrictions had been lifted. “We just kind of felt this, I don’t know, false sense now what we feel like of safe,” Melissa said.

Wisconsin flu numbers historically low amid COVID-19 pandemic

MADISON (WKOW) At this point in the 2019-20 flu season, Wisconsin had recorded 9,257 influenza cases. This year, the state has recorded 38 cases. That represents a 99.6% decrease in cases. It s quite stunning to look at the lack of influenza this year, Dr. David Ottenbaker, SSM Health s Vice President of Ambulatory Clinical Programs, said Tuesday. Ottenbaker told 27 News he s never seen such a large difference between two flu seasons. The numbers are incredibly low, and the million dollar question is why, he said. Ottenbaker said there are a number of theories about why cases are so much lower this year, but he said doctors haven t been able to pinpoint an exact cause.
