60 of those countries have democratized or transitioned towards democracy. So then sorry host i just want to say an example. Guest an example. Well turkeys considered a democracy, indonesia. These are all muslimmajority countries. But the problem is peter when we look at countries in the arab world. So there seems to be this strong correlation between authoritarianism or lack of democracy, excuse me, and arab muslim countries. So why is it that the arab muslim countries havent democratized . So weve sort of reframed the question that theres something unique about the arab world. Then we sort of examine the arab world and say what is going on here . Why havent the countries in the arab world democratized like other countries in latin america, former soviet Union Eastern europe, those countries although theyre still sort of, you know, liberalizing, but theyre making significant incremental gains towards something that was better than the sort of like, authoritarian stalemate, if you may.
