RIBBA’s Scholarship Applications Open for Black High School Seniors The Institute of Economic Empowerment and Development helps provide these scholarships to Black Rhode Island students who will be enrolled in college this fall. February 24, 2021 Applications are now open for the Rhode Island Black Business Association’s 2021 college scholarship. The Institute of Economic Empowerment and Development, a division of RIBBA, helps provide these scholarships to Black Rhode Island students who will be enrolled in college this fall. Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $1,000 and to date, the organization has awarded $45,000 in scholarship funds to Black students.  As Amanda Roman, RIBBA’s Director of Program Development and Operations, explains, these scholarship funds help Black students overcome some of the systemic barriers they often face when pursuing higher degrees.
