Dan Goldman, a former federal prosecutor and the current frontrunner in New York's 10th Congressional District race, holds an investment of up to $15,000 in the company, financial disclosure forms show. NYC Councilwoman Carlina Rivera, state Assemblywoman Jo Anne Simon and former Rep. Liz Holtzman are also invested in mutual funds that hold positions in Grand Canyon Education but all three candidates contend that one of the four investments is not like the others.
In her disclosure, under the header “Assets and ‘unearned’ income,” Rivera listed holdings in the iShares U.S. Aerospace and Defense exchange-traded fund. According to iShares’ website, the fund includes investments in defense contractors Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, as well as the gun manufacturers Smith & Wesson and Sturm Ruger.
