Alpha Betas, a new animated show starring YouTubers, has released its first official trailer. The show, which is animated by Starburns Industries, stars Evan VanossGaming Fong, Marcel BasicallyIDoWrk Cunningham, Tyler I AM WILDCAT Wine, and Brian Terroriser Hanby as a team of gamers tasked with fixing world-ending problems inside of video games in a way that nobody else can. Family Guy creator is developing a reboot of the 80s comedy
Keith and Kenny Lucas, the identical twin Lucas Brothers, are set to star in the film and will be co-writing the project with Alex Rubens. You may remember the Lucas Brothers from their scene-stealing turn in
22 Jump Street which makes them a pretty solid duo to take this on. MacFarlane will produce the film for his company Fuzzy Door Productions, along with Erica Huggins. This reimagining is likely to have more luck than the last attempt to reboot the film. 20th Century Fox attempted a remake back in 2006 starring Adam Brody, Dan Byrd, and Kristin Cavallari but the studio called off the project after two weeks of production.

Here’s what we know so far, via the outlet: “The upcoming version won’t be a remake of the 1984 comedy, which hasn’t aged all that well and has been criticized in recent years for depictions of rape. Instead, the contemporary reimagining will pontificate about today’s nerd culture and what even constitutes a geek in the 21st century.”
The original comedy followed a group of college nerds who battled with the jock fraternity, the Alpha Betas, leading to sequels and TV movies.
