“We want an office that has a budget,” said prominent LGBTQ activist Allen Roskoff, who pointed to similar offices that existed under the leadership of Mayor David Dinkins and Mayor Ed Koch. “He needs to have recognizable LGBT people everywhere.”
The demonstration marked a culmination of weeks of anger over Adams’ appointments of Fernando Cabrera, Erick Salgado and Gilford Monrose, Christian pastors in Brooklyn and the Bronx who have used homophobic and anti-gay rhetoric.
