NEW DELHI: About 20% of rural labourers are living on one meal a day and several are starving, the All India Agricultural Workers’ Union (AIAWU) said on Tuesday, even as it termed as ‘delayed’ the Supreme Court judgment directing the Centre to implement the ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme and set up the portal for registering unorganised and migrant workers by July 31. AIAWU said it endorsed the SC view that the “Centre’s delay in not putting up a portal shows it is not alive to the concerns of migrant workers” and added that the government must release enough foodgrain to states.
