Putting her peace of mind and health first, resident Alison Lobron drove to the Riverside T Station this week to take a rapid COVID test.
The drive-through, appointment-only site, located in a nondescript trailer in the parking lot, is operated by CIC Health and offers self-administered tests for $80. Results are returned in about 24-36 hours.
“My family is very cautious,” said Lobron. After she and some relatives exhibited concerning symptoms, she was happy to learn she could take the test in her hometown.
“This was so easy to do,” she said.
It was even easier than when she had a COVID test over the summer that used a long nasal swab (nasopharyngeal swab, according to the Mayo Clinic) that takes fluid from the back of a person’s nose. With the self-administered PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test, people use a shorter swab to get a sample.
