1,569 Kashmir refugees of Multan to cast votes in polls July 6, 2021 MULTAN: Some 1,569 refugees of Kashmir residing in Multan will cast their votes in the upcoming elections in Azad Kashmir. Arrangements have been made to establish polling stations in Multan for the purpose. The city district administration held a special meeting for the arrangements and setting up polling stations in Jultan on Monday, officials said. Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ali Shehzad said four polling stations would be set up in Multan for Kashmiri refugees. He directed that all measures should be taken to make the elections transparent. The foolproof security would be provided to candidates to ensure elections in a peaceful environment inside the polling station. The traffic police would be deployed outside the polling stations for parking arrangements.

Corona claims 17 more lives in Multan National MULTAN: Seventeen corona patients died in the Nishtar Hospital during the three days of Eid. Those died include Raheela Bibi, 43, of Gujrat, M Saleem, 50, and Kaneez Fatima of Multan. Total 249 patients are under treatment in the hospital. The divisional health authorities said that the corona positivity rating was reducing in the division. The corona positivity ratio in Multan is 3.23pc, Vehari 10.71pc and Lodhran 2.78pc. Total 45 patients tested positive in the division where 1,295 corona tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. In Multan district, 37 patients tested positive after conducted 1,144 corona tests. No patient tested positive in Khanewal district where 24 corona tests were conducted. Two patients tested positive in Lodhran district which conducted 72 corona tests. The Vehari district conducted 56 corona tests and six patients tested positive.

14 held for defying coronavirus lockdown in Multan National May 11, 2021 MULTAN: Joint teams of the city district administration, police and Rangers arrested fourteen violators of lockdown on Monday. According to officials, six coronavirus-induced lockdown violators were arrested from the walled city, five from Mumtazabad and three from different localities of the city. Cases have been registered against the accused. The authorities also sealed 33 shops over violating the COVID-19 lockdown. The authorities also impounded seven buses for carrying more than 50 per cent passengers and imposed Rs 230,000 fine upon violators. Joint teams of city district administration, police and Rangers arrested three people over defying coronavirus-induced lockdown and SOPs on Monday. According to officials, cases were registered against 14 individuals for COVID-19 SOPs violations.
