Polish diplomat forged documents for Jews during World War Two to save them from death

Alexsander Lados was head of Poland s unofficial legation in Switzerland in WW2 He and his team led a scheme to try and save Jews from the Nazi death camps  They bought and issued identity documents from South American countries to people at risk of being exterminated in the hopes of saving them Those with documents might be marked for prisoner exchange, not execution  Between 1941 and 1943 it is thought up to 5,000 documents were issued to 10,000 people, around 3,000 of whom survived the war
