there are two issues here. one is when you come from business in the private sector, which i did to the white house, you have to be exceedingly mindful and careful to separate all your prior dealings and any ongoing dealings from the private sector from your government responsibility. obviously in the case of jared kushner or my case as chief of staff, you have to be extremely careful. secondly, perhaps we were fortunate that there was no e-mail in whatsapp when i was in the white house. but technology has brought forth another level of care and prudence. it doesn t appear that was exercised in this case. alexi? kushner is a subject of interest for house democrats. that s why he s allegedly using back channels to communicate and conduct classified potentially or at least official business in ways that i m not a tech expert, but i know whatsapp has some
