When 3:00pm - 5:00pm Join the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra virtually on Sunday, February 28, 2021, at 3:00 PM, for their next livestream chamber music concert. The theme for this concert is “Celebrating Black Lives”, featuring members of the WSO including music director Peter Wilson (violin), as well as guest artists Aaron Clay (double bass) and Russell Wilson (piano). The concert will feature exclusively Black composers, including works by FLORENCE PRICE, the first African-American woman to have her music performed by a major symphony orchestra; SAMUEL COLERIDGE-TAYLOR, an English composer of mixed race birth who was referred to by White New York musicians as the “African Mahler;” GEORGE WALKER, Black American composer, pianist, and organist who was the first African-American to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music; WILLIAM GRANT STILL, often referred to as the “Dean of Afro-American Composers;” STEVIE WONDER, Black American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentali
