Well, the captain, the Police Captain who held a Police Conference said hes a close, personal friend of Sergeant Scott lunger, the officer who was shot and skilled this morning and killed. He said the department is devastated but thankful for the support theyve received from others. This is a very devastating and dark day for the community of hayward, the Hayward Police department, the family of the department and the men and women of Law Enforcement. Reporter this all happened before 3 15 this morning. Sergeant lunger and another officer stopped the driver of a white pickup truck near myrtle and lion street. The report was that the truck was morning erratically. Now, when Sergeant Lunger approached the truck, thats when the driver allegedly shot him without warning. The other officer with Sergeant Lunger fired back and thats when the driver sped away. He was rushed to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley where he died as a result of his injuries. Now Ha
