President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the law that will introduce a new tax levy on block reward mining companies operating in the country, which will come into force in January 2022. The law means there is a 1 Kazakhstan tenge ($0.00233) per kilowatt-hour additional levy applied to crypto mining businesses after the new year, which is designed to assist with regulation of the sector.
