Demetrius Andrade vs Liam Williams - Big Fight Preview & Predictions

Liam Williams gets his long awaited shot at the WBO champion, Andrade. Liam Williams (23-2-1, KO18) has long been courting a showdown with Demetrius Andrade (29-0, KO18), and the Welshman finally gets his wish this Saturday night with Andrade’s WBO middleweight title the prize on offer.  Clydach Vale’s Willliams has come on in leaps and bounds since a move to middleweight, after a pair of spirited losses to Liam Smith in 2017 at super welterweight, a weight where he reigned as British and Commonwealth champion.  Since those defeats to the Liverpudlian, ‘The Machine’ has had seven wins on the spin, and has paired winning and defending the British title, with ranking building wins with the governing bodies against decent opposition.

Liam Williams: It s my time to become world champion against Andrade

Liam Williams is confident that he’s fully prepared to face Demetrius Andrade, which he’ll do on Saturday, April 17, challenging for Andrade’s WBO middleweight title in a DAZN main event from Florida. “If I’m not ready now, I’ll have to have a serious think if I ever will be,” Williams wrote on Instagram. “I’ve worked unbelievably hard and cut no corners. It’s my time to become world champ, 100 percent.” The 28-year-old Williams (23-2-1, 18 KO) is on a really good run of form since moving up from 154 and settling in at 160, winning his last five fights at that weight, all by stoppage. He’s beaten Mark Heffron, Joe Mullender, Karim Achour, Alantez Fox, and Andrew Robinson, bulling through the last four inside of five rounds, with only Fox going past the second.

Caleb Plant shuts out Caleb Truax, eyes Canelo fight next

Premier Boxing Champions/FOX Caleb Plant retained his IBF super middleweight title with a shutout win over former titlist Caleb Truax, keeping Plant’s path to a huge fight with Canelo Alvarez later this year clear for the time being. Plant won on scores of 120-108 across the board. Bad Left Hook also scored the fight 120-108 on a pair of separate unofficial cards. Related The 28-year-old Plant (21-0, 12 KO) had no real trouble with the 37-year-old Truax (31-5-2, 19 KO), largely overwhelming the veteran with his speed, particularly off his jab. Even what Plant thinks is a broken hand didn’t really factor into the fight or become seriously noticeable, and Truax simply didn’t have anything in his arsenal to trouble Plant, though he did get through with the occasional solid right hand.

Caleb Plant vs Caleb Truax - Big Fight Preview & Predictions

One man who could really have a break out year in 2021 is 28-year-old Caleb Plant. ‘Sweet Hands’ only fought once in 2020, but starts this year as he hopes to go on with a third defence of his IBF Super Middleweight title. Plant (20-0, KO12) puts his belt on the line against a former holder of the same title in Minnesota’s Caleb Truax (31-4-2, KO19), and the contest tops a Premier Boxing Champions bill. Plant turned professional in 2014 under the wing of the notorious Al Haymon, and came to wider prominence in 2018, widely outscoring Rogelio Medina to earn a shot at the IBF title.
